Linux From Scratch (LFS) 6.6 RC1 telah dirilis. Linux From Scratch bukan distribusi linux tradisional melainkan sebuah buku yang berisi tutorial untuk mengembangkan basis sistem Linux dari source code. Kutipan dari halaman berita proyek:

The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the release of LFS Version 6.6-rc1. This release includes numerous changes to LFS-6.5 (including updates to Linux-2.6.32.7, GCC-4.4.3, Glibc-2.11.1) and security fixes. It also includes editorial work on the explanatory material throughout the book, improving both the clarity and accuracy of the text.

Disamping update yang disebutkan diatas, versi terbaru Linux From Scratch juga memasukkan Bash 4.1, module-init-tools 3.11.1, udev 151, GRUB 1.97.2 (baca thread ini untuk informasi lebih lanjut), dan banyak paket terbaru GNU. Buku lengkap ada sebagai sumber daya online atau sebuah paket tunggal yang dapat diunduh dalam format HTML (175KB), XML (509KB), dan PDF (1,443KB).
